Dendê Macêdo & Friends Perform Recycled Sounds at the Allens Lane Arts Center
Come join us at the Allens Lane Arts Center for an unforgettable evening of music with Dendê Macêdo & Friends! The event celebrates the opening of the Recycled Sounds exhibit that is running throughout the month of September.
Recycled Sounds showcases Macêdo’s striking collection of playable instruments crafted from found and repurposed materials—turning everyday objects into tools of rhythm and storytelling. Works on view include a bucket shekere, golf-club berimbau, tire drum, trash-can snare, fan-base drum, and other ingenious hybrids that fuse form, function, and environmental consciousness.
The event will celebrate the exhibit of my sculptural recycled instruments and a live performance featuring special guest artists Jafar Barron (trumpet), David Dzubinski (keys) and Bert Harris (bass).
