Allens Lane Arts Center is\u00a0 delighted to present Recycled Sounds, a vibrant and thought-provoking exhibition by internationally acclaimed percussionist and instrument-maker Dend\u00ea Mac\u00eado.<\/div>\n
Mac\u00eado presents a striking collection ofinstruments handcrafted from found and repurposed materials. From a bucket shekere\u00a0to a trash-can snare, a golf-club berimbau\u00a0to a fan-base drum, each piece is an inventive fusion of rhythm, sustainability, and storytelling. These instruments don\u2019t just make music, they carry the history of the streets, the hands that once used them, and the new life breathed into them through sound.<\/div>\n

Born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, and now based in Philadelphia, Dend\u00ea\u00a0Mac\u00eado is a celebrated figure in Afro-Brazilian music. A former member of Timbalada, co-founder of the Mamad\u00eal\u00eaFoundation, and a global ambassador of samba de roda and Candombl\u00e9 rhythms, his work bridges cultures, traditions, and communities.<\/div>\n
