Their drums pulse in sync with the flow of the ocean\, calling onlookers and worshippers alike into the rhythm of celebration. As they move along the beach\, the crowd joins in\, dancing and singing\, making offerings to the beloved Orixá. With every beat\, Arrastão do Dendê channels the spirit of the sea\, filling the air with devotion\, tradition\, and the boundless energy of Bahia’s culture.

DESCRIPTION:O projeto Sons Reciclados\, que une arte\, sustentabilidade e criatividade\, acontece na sexta-feira\, às 19h\, no Teatro Gamboa\, sob o comando de Dendê Macedo\, com toda a renda arrecadada destinada ao local\, que passa por um processo de ação coletiva destinada a arrecadação para a compra e manutenção do imóvel. O multiartista constrói instrumentos percussivos a partir de objetos reciclados\, transformando materiais comuns em sonoridades únicas e expressão musical. O evento ainda contará com a presença de artistas convidados\, como o músico afro-americano Graham Haynes\, e os brasileiros Ângelo Santiago. \n“É uma honra receber amigos para celebrar e mostrar aos meus conterrâneos aquilo que desenvolvo. O projeto Sons Reciclados nasceu desse processo curioso\, criava um instrumento\, explorava toques\, guardava\, e aos poucos\, fui descobrindo caminhos e criando uma composição de sons. Observando o mundo ao meu redor\, me inspiro para as minhas criações\, seja em melodia ou percussão\, assim sigo transformando vivências em arte” conta Dendê Macedo. \nAutodidata\, Dendê desenvolve suas produções musicais no Brasil e Estados Unidos. Aquilo que seria descartado\, ganha uma nova vida pelas mãos do artista\, taco de golfe vira berimbau\, xequerê que é feito com capacete\, surdo a partir de balde e atabaque criado com vaso sanitário estão entre eles. A iniciativa alia originalidade e práticas sustentáveis\, resultando em uma performance com sons percussivos distintos.

The event celebrates the opening of the Recycled Sounds exhibit that is running throughout the month of September. \nRecycled Sounds showcases Macêdo’s striking collection of playable instruments crafted from found and repurposed materials—turning everyday objects into tools of rhythm and storytelling. Works on view include a bucket shekere\, golf-club berimbau\, tire drum\, trash-can snare\, fan-base drum\, and other ingenious hybrids that fuse form\, function\, and environmental consciousness. \nThe event will celebrate the exhibit of my sculptural recycled instruments and a live performance featuring special guest artists Jafar Barron (trumpet)\, David Dzubinski (keys) and Bert Harris (bass).
